Search Index successfully rebuilt

Post by Stoepsel » Thu Feb 05, 2009 4:41 pm

Update:
The search index has now been rebuilt to include words between 3 and 32 characters. This means that you will now get results for searches like "Pop" or "Rap".

Note, though, that there is a stop-word list in place that prevents common English words from being included in the search index. Searching for words that are in the stop-word list will not yield results. As an example, one such common English 3-letter word is "saw".
In an effort to improve the Forum Search, we will need to disable the forum for about an hour or so this weekend. It will most likely be noon-ish CET, Saturday, the 7th.

So don't panic when you see the "down for maintenance" message. Everything is under control -- that is, until something goes wrong. ;)

Join us in our IRC channel or take the dog for a much-needed walk to keep yourself busy.

Keeping my fingers crossed,

For those wondering, what words are in the stop-word list, see here.

And before anyone asks, no, I will not entertain a debate about taking words out of the list. "Saw" stays in no matter how much you beg and whine.
