DVR and multicast

Post by kanisgr » Tue Sep 10, 2019 5:37 am

Hi there,
I’m trying to understand what multicast is in my hik vision DVR and I can’t.
Can someone please explain if I can use it to video stream the cameras to another screen in my lan?
If so, what kind of device is required to get the image?
Thank you :D

Thank you for replying!!!
I have but perhaps I’m looking for something else and I haven’t understood what multicast is...?
I thought there are video streamers that can grab the picture multicasted on a LAN and output via VGA/HDMI to a monitor.
I’m trying to avoid extra connection cables and computers, as I want to see at least the channel 0 2 floors away of the DVR.
Does this make sense?
I hope so.
😊
