Regarding the state of the TV forum

Post by CheGuevara »

Hello,

Looking upon the TV section in the last few weeks pushed me to write this post. Unfortunately, the situation in the world has affected most of us and it has caused some mechanisms, that worked for years here, to start failing. TV section, being one, that requires the most attention has suffered the most. A few regular posters have disappeared, another one can't afford the time to post all TV to more then one place. Moderation has also been lacking. So this causes me to do 2 things;
1) Due to constant posts of nature "how come there's no new episodes", "when will new episodes be posted" and so, I have added links to TV Underground to forums descriptions, so please check there first if you can find what you need and only then post requests.
2) I ask everyone who has a bit of free time to post links, after all it's meant to be a community effort not only a few people. Sad to see the whole thing crumble, because of a few people have more pressing issues.

I will monitor the situation until EOM, if nothing changes, the whole section will most likely go archive only, as in current state it's pointless.

Regards, keep safe

- Che

P.S. Thread is open for comments and suggestions

i can copy over links if it helps but i'm unsure of how to edit the links...
obviously their file links will be tagged with TVU and some have been criticised for promoting other websites when they have added links..
if it's ok to just copy links over then i shall do so

I was relentless to do it, since I wasn't the one that locked them and was told they'd be taken care of. But clearly it's not happening and I still can't actually understand the real need for locking, I've done it now. Unlocked:
Supergirl
Outlander
DC's Legends Of Tomorrow
The Flash (2014)
The Walking Dead

Let me know if any more needs doing.

I realise this is about the TV section but I'm happy to do more to keep the Comics section in good shape.

I tried. I really did. For the last few years ever now and again I saw something missing in some of the posts, some episode of something I could share. When it happened I would copy the link from my file and paste it in here in STF. Never once did any of my posts get approved and not once did I receive any feedback. I still don't know if I was doing it wrong or if the link was incorrectly formatted, or whatever.

When I saw this post I thought OK, this is it! This time I will be able to contribute. I gathered my Talking Dead links, posted them in the Walking Dead section, just like all the other episodes of this post-show talk show.

Once again, silence. My post is still showing as "This post is not visible to other users until it has been approved by a moderator."

I really like STF and I use it frequently. I would really like to be able to help complete the shows I care for.

Check the tips at my post here, viewtopic.php?f=9&t=276451 , especially the last step as you need the AICH Hash to get the post accepted. Also, check that the file do not already exist in the thread and that the name format is like the others.

I will not be able to post more links from now until Monday or Tuesday, so other people here in the forum are welcome to post new stuff from TVU that are not posted by others :-) I have no "my own" series, I have more or less just posted everything from TVU that no one else has posted ;-) Keep safe and thanks to everyone who makes this site a good place!

Thank you for deleting my properly placed, as a documentary educational tv series, "Grant" post and leaving that one "Grant", which is obviously wrongly posted and misleading as a "scripted fictional tv series". Does anybody read any description of a show before posting (or deleting) it? With my kindest regards.

You're welcome.
Please carefully read both the show and forum descriptions (as well as the forum rules) before trying to tell staff how to do their job.
A) It is more of a "docu-drama" ie both categories fits, as it has actors and dramatized (fictional) scenes (unless you think there are actual archival footages of Ulysses S. Grant and Abraham Lincoln?). It is certainly not filmed to be "educational". (And this is not the first docu-drama History Channel / Nat Geo has done.)
B) Going by date and time, yours was the last post.
Also, there has been a lot of series lately posted in "Documentaries", which is for "non-series documentaries". Simply put: if it has season-numbers, it does not belong in "Documentaries".
Also, some shows has been posted with "poster images", which the TV section doesn't use. We use "banner images", or as close to that as possible.
Also, a lot of show descriptions, has been quoted from "TVmaze" or "IMDb" or "TheTVDB". As that basically is the same as quoting any random user on any random site, we quote the official sites. Also, when posting Netflix shows, please do not link to Polish Netflix. Either Google for the international/original language link, or copy the linked "official site" from TVMaze. (And then copy the show description from that Netflix link, if it is in English.) ~momijigari
