Many problem have problems with ED2K links not going to emule, heres a short tutorial which hopefully will solve your problem.
Firstly go into emule and goto options, choose the general section and click "Handle eD2K Links" button.
If the button is actually greyed out, then you have 3 options to try out, one can be trying out eD2K Link Killer
90% of the times this will fix the error. Restart emule and recheck the "Handle eD2K Links" button, if again greyed out you could try a fix it in the registry (Please dont attempt if you dont know what your doing)
This is not a complicated thing.
Ok go into your registry an check these things:-
Code: Select all
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ed2k\shell\open\command Name: (default) Type: REG_SZ Data: "Path to emule.exe" "%1"
Code: Select all
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ed2k\shell\open\command Name: (default) Type: REG_SZ Data: "Path to emule.exe" "%1"
If these are not there then add them yourself, if they are not the way they are above then edit them so they are the same.
Ok then leave the registry, restart emule and see if the "Handle eD2K Links" is normal then click it to make it default, If not continue below.
If it still dont work theres one more option, but only works with Firefox, its called mozex Then you'll have a menu like this :-
All you do is choose your movie, right click the eD2K link, choose mozex, then goto the arrow and choose "Link => ED2K Client", then it will goto your emule, limewire whichever you use.
Another problem you could have is that Firefox is not set to allow eD2K links, there is a secret config page included within Firefox to help fix the eD2K link problem. First goto your address bar and type aboutconfig then press enter, you will see a list of configurations, scroll down till you find one saying network.protocol-handler.external.ed2k and make sure its value is set to true. Again this should fix any errors your getting with your eD2K client.
Hopefully these steps will fix your problem, and you'll be happy emuling again
