Cloning to SSD from Dell PC with OEM software

Post by djmattybigbig » Sun Jul 05, 2015 4:53 pm

Dear Gurus,

Tried a couple of Apps to Clone my C Sata Drive to a Sandisk SSD to no avail; one was freeUS, can't remember the other one. I'm happy to do a fresh install, but of course I have no Win8.1 disk, and the factory reset backup will not boot up when cloned to the SSD. I just did a straight copy on freeUS, as that is all it'll let you do. Do I need an App that will Clone all my partitions exactly, if so can you recommend one that you have used, and that has worked on OEM software, particularly if you have used a Dell.

Thanks in advance, Matt.

I use this for XP & Windows 7 on DELL & Compaq/HP, I think it would work for W8, give it a try:

Acronis10BootCD ver. 10.0.11639 with Universal Restore
viewtopic.php?f=146&t=151727&hilit=acro ... 1#p1343541

There is also:
(1) Acronis.True.Image.(2014).Premium.Edition - sharethefiles.com

How exactly to create a bootable clone of my SSD with a True Image bootable CD? | Acronis Forum

Have used several in the past used to use acronis. NOW it's too complicated.. I use this one now and love it!! the free version allows you to clone but not other features. I keep three HD's in my desk and clone weekly to one and alternate each week so I can go back three weeks .

EaseUS worked for me( Partly Free), tick sector copy, that should do it all, just as long as the SSD is larger/same size as HDD
I did a 350gb HDD to 240Gb SSD just drive C, then used a Recovery disk for MBR (flash drive)

I use Clonezilla https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clonezilla

It's quite easy (I think), you boot it with a USB (make the ISO USB bootable with the free software YUMI = viewtopic.php?f=9&t=205786&p=1524241 ) and just do your stuff. Here are some [glow=red]tutorials[/glow] (from http://www.google.com/search?q=clonezil ... +windows+7 ):
