it's pretty much as aas82 mentioned:
Here is what I did but I strongly recommend you to read through both of the links posted by aas82. Furthermore I won't take any responsibility if you follow this and somehow manage to screw up your BIOS. Tampering with a BIOS is always a delicate matter and can prevent a computer from successfully booting if modified in a wrong way. Update your BIOS at your own risk!
1) FIND YOUR CURRENT BIOS VERSION
Click "Start" and type "msinfo32.exe" (without the parnthesis) and it should be displayed on the right side.
2) FIND YOUR CORRECT BIOS UPDATE
I read through it and finally found this link
which brought me to my Gigabyte motherboard. Then I filtered for the latest available update
(not the one they are actually referring to, which is in my case of board the F11 update). In any case, if you have any other brand of motherboard, I'm sure you will be able to find it on their respective product & support sites, google helps you find them.
3) INSTALL THE BIOS UPDATE
a) either you are lucky and the .exe updates everything for you
b) or you have to do it urself by creating a boot CD/DVD or usb drive. For CD/DVD bootables please refer to certain sources, since i chose the USB variant. I downloaded a certain program called WinUSB Maker
, which is free and formats an USB drive to be bootable. If you use that program, click on "MSDOS USB" option after starting the program. Now all that you have to do is to drag and drop the files that you downloaded (the BIOS update files) into the formatted USB drive and restart the computer. Now you need to chose a new boot sequence in order for the BIOS to boot from the USB instead of your HDD, which is done differently from motherboard to motherboard. I however just had to click F12 and was prompted to a bootmenu, where I chose HDD+ Flash (can be called differently, e.g. Removable Dev. or so), then it installed the BIOS for me and when done you will see C:\> prompting at which point you can restart the PC.
4) CHECK THE BIOS VERSION FOR CONFIRMATION
Just to be sure you now want to check if the right BIOS version has been updated and simply type in again: "msinfo32.exe" (without the parenthesis)
5) INSTALL HOTFIXES
There are 2 hotfixes, and the links are here for the first
and the second
. Mircosoft will send you the actual download links via email. Furthermore you can choose the OS you are using that might be different then mine. Just to be save i restarted after both hotfix installations.
After everything was done I started the game and was stunned by it's speed and smoothness
PS: Sry for my English, hope you could understand me and please forgive me for not being a native speaker
