^You should be able to find them in the install folder, so you don't have to run entire install again.
Just run all of them even if you think you already have it. If it asks if you want to Repair or Remove then you have it and can press Cancel.
The rest you let install/update as normal.

Hello everyone,
sry for reviving this topic but I just recently downloaded this game. I first started with the normal skidrow torrent and installed the game and, as many others the game froze after a couple of turns. Then i found this forum where it said to also download the crackfix from vovan and did just that. Seemingly it is working and I am still testing it... BUT the loading times dramatically increased. For example, the normal skidrow crack my loading times were about 1-2 from desktop to main menu, ~1min from campaign menu to game, ~1min from map to battlemap and about 1min for the end of turn. Now it takes me ~10mins from desktop to main menu, ~3mins into the game, ~3mins from map to battle map and 5-7mins for the end of turn AIs to finish.
Furthermore, I had it run on very high on the skidrow crack and it was smooth as silk, and now with the crackfix even on the lowest setting it is laggy as hell.

Here my system:
Case: Corsair 400R
Cooler: Corsair H100
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5
CPU: AMD FX Black Edition (8-core) 3.6GHz, 16.0MB Total Cache
GPU: ATI Radeon Sapphire 7770 (2 crossfired)
RAM: Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR3
HDD: Western Digital 1TB
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I am aware of the fact that this game has some issues with the FX chip, however i was satisfied with the performance under skidrow's crack.

Here is what i tried all of it multiple times:
-Ran it on directx 9 and 11
-admin mode
-reinstalled
-installed the redist
-cleared roaming files
-re-downloaded
-downloaded other torrent
-updated drivers
-updated .net framework
-switched the redist adobe flash 11 32 bit against the 64 bit version
-tried to run without having my GPUs crossfired
-tried only primary GPU
-tried only secondary GPU
-set my liquid cooler to highest performance
-set fan speed on GPU to max

Result: same, first it's nice and smooth with skidrow, apart from the game breaking crashes after a couple of turns and as soon as vovan's fix is applied, it's unplayable laggy and slooooooooow.

Now my question:
1) Why is the performance so poor now?
2) Any way to fix this?

Thanks in advance for your support

Add:

I also blocked in and outbound traffic for shogun 2 and I also don't get the "tempered exe" message. I run avast and have it blocked on the windows fire wall as well as in avast.

No sense in comparing to SKIDROW as their crack does not work (tampered message + crash)
This game has had a lot of bugs that's been fixed in updates, but as no cracks exists for those vovan is still the only option.

Seems like you tried everything. Only thing you can do is make the cracks isn't getting locked by your antivirus as it is reported as false-positive in some.
In my post at the top of this page you can see how to make exceptions in avast: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=215268&p=1305549#p1272440

Here's some more troubleshooting tips: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=215268&start=60#p1247968
Including setting more virtual RAM if you don't have enough "real" RAM.

It could still be down to your GPU as the 7xxx series has problems with this game:
http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.p ... ged-by-AMD

And you have it in combination with AMD FX that also have problems (though they seem to be solvable by BIOS update + hotfix'es):

First of all thank you very much for your swift and thorough reply. However I do have some questions though.

1) I didn't allow the program through avast antivirus, however i it off while i plat (and being disconnected from the internet), so is that still necessary? Would appreciate an explanation, so I understand, will try to allow it anyways.
2) I do understand that i can't compare the crack and the fix, what i am saying though is that it ran totally smooth, in terms of loading time and lag. Furthermore I need to say that those times I mentioned above are times of turn 1~3, i'm aware the longer the game lasts the more AI movement is done and therefore would result in longer loading times. However my point is that pre-crash it was really smooth. Now my knowledge about how a crack can affect graphical performances in this matter is non existing but I can hardly imagine that it is somehow related. (Btw. the demo of the game runs perfectly) I'm a bit confused here, since if my hardware has issues with the game itself shouldn't it be consistently bad no matter if original, cracked or fixed?
3) And about the BIOS update, forgive my lack of knowledge but how do I actually update a BIOS? I'm sorry if that's in the link you posted but I didn't read through it yet but will do right after I posted this. In case it is explained I apologize for my laziness.

Thanks again aas82, you are a great support.

EDIT: ofc i also tried to set the game settings to lowest graphics settings possible, and ofc everything else

EDIT2: Updated the BIOS, applied the hot fixes and now it is running like a charm. THANK YOU u r a god for me now :> Again THANK YOU aas82!

@falcone

it's pretty much as aas82 mentioned:

aas82 wrote:And you have it in combination with AMD FX that also have problems (though they seem to be solvable by BIOS update + hotfix'es):
http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.p ... IOS-update

Here is what I did but I strongly recommend you to read through both of the links posted by aas82. Furthermore I won't take any responsibility if you follow this and somehow manage to screw up your BIOS. Tampering with a BIOS is always a delicate matter and can prevent a computer from successfully booting if modified in a wrong way. Update your BIOS at your own risk!

1) FIND YOUR CURRENT BIOS VERSION
Click "Start" and type "msinfo32.exe" (without the parnthesis) and it should be displayed on the right side.
2) FIND YOUR CORRECT BIOS UPDATE
I read through it and finally found this link which brought me to my Gigabyte motherboard. Then I filtered for the latest available update (not the one they are actually referring to, which is in my case of board the F11 update). In any case, if you have any other brand of motherboard, I'm sure you will be able to find it on their respective product & support sites, google helps you find them.
3) INSTALL THE BIOS UPDATE
a) either you are lucky and the .exe updates everything for you
b) or you have to do it urself by creating a boot CD/DVD or usb drive. For CD/DVD bootables please refer to certain sources, since i chose the USB variant. I downloaded a certain program called WinUSB Maker, which is free and formats an USB drive to be bootable. If you use that program, click on "MSDOS USB" option after starting the program. Now all that you have to do is to drag and drop the files that you downloaded (the BIOS update files) into the formatted USB drive and restart the computer. Now you need to chose a new boot sequence in order for the BIOS to boot from the USB instead of your HDD, which is done differently from motherboard to motherboard. I however just had to click F12 and was prompted to a bootmenu, where I chose HDD+ Flash (can be called differently, e.g. Removable Dev. or so), then it installed the BIOS for me and when done you will see C:\> prompting at which point you can restart the PC.
4) CHECK THE BIOS VERSION FOR CONFIRMATION
Just to be sure you now want to check if the right BIOS version has been updated and simply type in again: "msinfo32.exe" (without the parenthesis)
5) INSTALL HOTFIXES
There are 2 hotfixes, and the links are here for the first and the second. Mircosoft will send you the actual download links via email. Furthermore you can choose the OS you are using that might be different then mine. Just to be save i restarted after both hotfix installations.
6) DONE
After everything was done I started the game and was stunned by it's speed and smoothness :P

PS: Sry for my English, hope you could understand me and please forgive me for not being a native speaker :P

Glad you figured it out!

falcone: note that the BIOS update we're talking only applies if you have a AMD FX motherboard/CPU.
And the BIOS update method is properly bit over your league as you likely will have to make a USB boot
(and possibly need to start bios update manually from prompt) which is not for beginners.
You run the risk of breaking your motherboard, so do so at own risk as mentioned above.

BTW I managed to find a p2p update pack which includes some of the newer patches (not all) and it also contain V2 of vovan's crack.
It is not a full update as it still uses an earlier exe but you still get some of the benefits.

Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.Update3+patch21+V2crack-P2P
Contains Update3, tweaked patch21 and V2 of vovan1337's crack.
It also contains an optional LAN fix for GreenLuma/Tunngle play.
Furthermore it contains a Map Editor cracked by 3DM, if you wan't to make your own maps.

Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.Update3+patch21+V2crack.rar  [212.37 Mb]
(*** P2P pack and crack. Crack contains false-positive. Use at own risk of breaking game ***)

Code: Select all

Pack contains all patches after SKIDROW FOTS release up to patch 21, vovan1337's v1 and v2 crack and tanauser's tweaked patch 21.

1.Install game using SKIDROW FOTS release and apply SKIDROW crack files.

2.Overwrite with vovan1337 v1 crack files. Put steamfucker.dll in your antivirus software's exception list.

3.Overwrite again, this time with vovan1337 v2 crack files.

4.Place the included 'data' and 'benchmark' folders in game dir. Can be found in the 'Update3-files' folder

5.Backup original patch21.pack (from game dir) for further patches and crack. One is also included in this pack.

6.Overwrite with tanauser's tweaked patch21.pack.

7.Enjoy.

Also included is a optional LAN fix if you wan't to play online using GreenLuma/Tunngle.
Furthermore a map editor is included.

Total War: Shogun 2 map editor released
For the first time in over a decade of the Total War series, developer The Creative Assembly has released an official editor to let players create their own battlefields. The delightfully-named TEd, Total War Editor, is available now for Total War: Shogun 2 and its expandalone and its expandalone Fall of the Samurai.
Playing god with friendly old TEd, you can sculpt the terrain then populate your creations with props from trees to railway lines. If you're determined and inventive enough, yes, you probably can make de_dust. You can play your levels in custom AI battles or in multiplayer, where they're automatically shared with the other player.
"Total War has enjoyed a strong and dedicated modding community down the years, and we want to do more to support that," TW brand director Rob Bartholomew said in the announcement. "With TEd at their fingertips, we're expecting to see new battle-maps for Shogun 2 that will equal our own in popularity."
If you own Shogun 2 or Fall of the Samurai, you should find TEd in your Tools tab on Steam.

Have you tried not doing automatic battle? And just doing the battles yourself?
The battle mechanics have long loading times here and there which points to high resource usage (or poor coding),
so the problem with freezing could be down to low RAM or insufficient CPU. How many RAM do you have?

You don't exactly have a lot of RAM, so that could very well be a possible course a long with your CPU.
If buying more RAM is out the question you can try to increase your virtual ram and see if it helps.
Actual RAM is obviously much better. 4 GB (meaning 2 GB more than now) would be a good start. (You'll need x64 Windows to take full advantage)
You don't have the greatest CPU either. It's actually right at the limit of Minimum requirements.
Your graphics card obviously also plays a big role. Which one do you have?

Note that afaik both those DLC's are for the base game Shogun 2, not for Fall Of The Samurai.
Shogun 2 is included in this release, but haven't seen the DLC's anywhere
(not separate anyways - can possible be found as a part of "Shogun 2: Gold Edition", but finding a cracked version of that seems difficult to say the least).

EDIT: may have found a DLC pack which is said to work with the V2 crack. Will post tomorrow if it looks legit.

Re: Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.(2012)-SKIDROW

Postby aas82 » Tue Jun 11, 2013 6:11 pm

NOTE: I have now checked the update I found. It looks legit and the game still starts after applying it. I have not had the time to test it for a lot of rounds or check that the DLC are included, so you'll have to do that yourself. However I got the patch from Tanauser who also helped make the Update3-pack and he says the 2 DLC's are included.
Since there's still no newer cracked EXE out, this patch will be a hybrid as it last ones also have.
Meaning you get the updated content, but will still have to use the old cracked EXE thereby possibly missing out on some of the fixes.

Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.Update.5.patch22-P2P
You must install 'Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.Update3+patch21+V2crack-P2P' first.
Read instructions below.

Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.Update5.patch22-P2P.rar  [203.23 Mb]

Instructions:

1) First apply Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.of.the.Samurai.Update3+patch21+V2crack-P2P following the included instructions.
If you want to use the Map Editor you'll also have to at this point apply the one from 3DM included.
Remember both V1 and V2 cracks may trigger false-positives.

2) Apply files from 'Update5-files' folder to game dir.
It also contains updates to Map Editor, so if you didn't install that in step 1, do not run tED.exe (will not work/not cracked)

3) I haven't pre-reapplied the tweaked patch21 as the game seemed to work without it.
If you however happen to run into any problems/crashes playing that may be the cause.
So if you have problems take the tweaked patch21.pack included and apply it to 'data' folder in game dir.

Note: the folder 'Original.EXEs' contains the updated EXE's, but since they haven't been cracked I have moved them here to avoid having to reapply crack.
So if you followed the instructions from Update3 (where you apply V1 and V2 cracks) and then apply Update5 you're still cracked.
The 'original.exe' folder can therefor be ignored for all cracked versions.

Have no idea what you saying?
If you mean you have installed Update3 and have that working and want to know how now to install Update5 then you obviously just skip step 1 in my instructions above.
So you just apply 'Update5-files' and play. If you have problem you then apply the tweaked patch21 afterwards. (or do it right away if you want as both seems to work)
