Hello. I've had problems getting past the first battle ingame. Everytime, roughly near the end of the first battle, the client will ctd without fail.

I have tried installing this game on two different PCs but the same problem persists. Does anyone have any solutions to my problem?

Also, please forgive me if the solution has already been posted. I just kind of skimmed through the text.

Have you used the PROPER crack (viewtopic.php?f=79&t=215268#p1229178 ).
The original crack does not work and caused crash around 4th turn everytime.

I downloaded the skidrow crackfix and another crack fron piratebay that is purported to work but I have no idea if it's the same one as in the link. I'll download it and give t a try anw

^ Total.War.Shogun.2.Fall.Of.The.Samurai.Crack.PROPER-vovan31337.rar [9.83 MB] works 100%. Don't know about the other ones. SKIDROW made a royal messup of the original crack. Also to the best of my knowledge SKIDROW have not released their own proper/fix scene crack for this, so I would guess it's a fake. I would just go with the confirmed working one (vovan's), but that's up to you.

I only saw one user for the file in my queue and gave him a friendslot, so if you're Mid****t Fa**on (changed it a bit in case you don't wan't it posted here) you now have a friendslot and should jump the queue on next request round. There is alot of hit-and-run on patches but it should have 4 complete sources right now.

Note: only ed2k-links are allowed on this site. Direct download, torrents etc. are not, but people can use PM's if needed, as you suggest.

Update: I've downloaded vovan's crack and copied and pasted it into a freshly installed shogun 2. the popup appears asking me whether I want to launch it and after I click yes, i get a shogun 2 has stopped working message. =\

Did you install all the Redists (DirectX etc.) when asked at end of game installation?
You should run the installations even though you already have the component, as it while insure you have a working and correct version of that component. If you didn't install them then you can install them now from the Redists folder.

Did you block the game's access to internet by firewall or disconnect?

Did your antivirus warn you about steamfucker.dll from the crack?
If it did it could still be locked even though you chose Ignore/Allow depending on your type of antivirus.

Launch game by running 'Shogun2.exe' in install directory.
If you have Win7 you should run it with 'Run as administrator' option enabled.

Installed all the redists.

I did not block the game's access to internet via firewall. Do I have to do that? And how do I do that?

I don't have an anti-virus software so that can't have been it and Windows Defender does not seem to have any problems with steamfucker.dll

I did launch it from the install directory.

My OS is Vista.

Firewall: yes, you should either block in firewall or disconnect your internet by removing cable before/while playing game.
Firewall is easiest as you only have to do that once, but is more compliated. Below is an earlier guide i wrote for blocking in Windows Firewall:

Depends what firewall you're using. If you're using a software firewall or Windows Firewall (it needs to be enabled) it will normally ask you when something tries to connect to the internet if it's okay. And then you can just say No/Block access to block it in firewall. If you're using a hardware firewall like through your router or otherwise you need to setup a rule there.

If you're using Windows Firewall and wan't to check if it's blocked you can do the following (in Win7):

1) Control panel -> System and security -> Windows firewall section -> Allow a program through Windows Firewall
2) If you already have run Shogun2 you should be able to find Shogun2.exe in the list and then make sure there is no check-marks in the boxes.

This is a more advanced, but better way of blocking with Windows Firewall:
If you want to setup the block before running the game (can also be done after) still using Windows Firewall in Win7 (should be similar in other versions):
1) Open Start-menu and type wf.msc in the Search or Run field and press ENTER
2) Click Outbound Rules on the left
3) Click New Rule... on the right
4) Make sure Program is selected and press Next
5) Press Browse and then find your Total War: Shogun 2 install directory and select shogun2.exe
6) Make sure Block the connection is selected and press Next
7) Make sure all 3 options are checked and press Next
8) Type Shogun2 or whatever you like and press Finish
9) DONE! you may now run game - with admin rights

If this guide doesn't match Vista you can just try unplugging the internet for now while troubleshooting and I'll make another guide for Vista later if needed.

In Vista you should also run the game with 'Run as administrator' setting enabled. It is done like this:

(The first method described needs to be performed everytime running game, so I would use method 2. But just follow the well-explained guide in the link.
When the guide mentions 'program you want to launch with admin rights' it is in your case Shogun2.exe in the install dir.)

Try those 2 things and see if it helps.

Do you meet these?:

Minimum system requirements
* OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
* CPU: Pentium 4 2.66GHz OR Sempron 2600+
* RAM: 1 GB
* HDD: 22 GB free disk space
* Graphics: GeForce 8600 GS or Radeon X1300 256MB
* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible
* DirectX: Version 9

Edit: disconnecting the laptop from the internet entirely worked and I have gone past the first battle which I could not previously. However, I wish to retain the use of the internet while playing the game as it is quite troublesome.

Unfortunately, the above methods for the Windows Firewall do not work for me. Is there another method?

Also, has anyone tried to use mods with this crack?

Must have missed your message. Are you still looking for a firewall block method? If so post your Windows version and brand of firewall if you're using a non-windows one.
The method I wrote is for Win7 but it is similar (though not completely the same) in most versions, but can post one specific to your OS if you post.

Hey i know i might be bringing up an old topic but i cant help it! Ok so my shogun two was working I was able to get in game and mess around a little but then after battles in fall of the samurai I would either get the map totally covered in water followed by a game freeze or after a big battle during the loading screen it just stops loading. Its quite infuriating, So i messed around with the cracks a little and now it cant make it past the shogun 2 logo while starting up. any help would be appreciated.

See this post I made a while back and go through the steps to troubleshoot:

Did you (as stated many times) use the PROPER crack from vovan instead of the default one that game with release?
And you havn't answered my other questions either:
Did your anti-virus complain about steamfucker.dll and marking it as malware?
Did you install the Redists like DirectX?
Did you block game's access to internet by firewall or disconnect?

As it is stated many times in this thread steamfucker.dlll is a false-positive and is needed to run the game. If you block it the game will not work.
I have also explained how to block firewall several times in different threads.
Either block in firewall or just unplug your internet cable before running game:

What do you mean by "i did what you told me"? Did you just block game in firewall?

Because you still need to deal with steamfucker.dll before the game works.
When it have already been locked you need to redownload and reapply the crack (from vovan) to get a working DLL again.

Depending on what antivirus software you use you need to either add game dir to exceptions (before unpacking again), choose Ignore/allow when it asks (doesn't work in all software as many still keep it locked) or completely uninstalling your antivirus (and preferble installing another that isn't so sensitive to falsepositive and/or have a working Ignore function - like Microsoft Sec Essentials)

And remember it has to be the PROPER crack from vovan, NOT the original crack that came with the game.
There is no other working crack/patch for this game atm, but doesn't matter anyway because the one from vovan works fine when you apply it correctly.

Did you redownload & reapply the PROPER crack from vovan?
It is not enough to just unpack it again as the DLL inside RAR also can be locked, so delete old versions and download fresh copy of vovan crack.
Did you get a malware warning from antivirus again this time around?
If you still get a warning the DLL is often locked even if you choose Ignore/Allow depending on the brand of antivirus/antimalware software.

Did you run game without internet access by using firewall or disconnect?
Did you run Shogun2.exe with admin rights (Run as administrator)?

yes i delete the crack and redownload it, i run the game as admin but still....i delete my anivirus so i dont get any malware warning ...

Try to start over with entire install to rule out corruption during all your troublehooting.

1) Uninstall entire game
2) Make sure your video card driver is the newest, else update to it.
3) Reinstall game including Redists when it asks after install
4) Apply the freshly downloaded PROPER crack from vovan as instructed.
5) Make sure to block game access to internet by setting rule in firewall or unplugging internet cable.
6) Run shogun2.exe with admin rights.
7) Start a new game. Do not load any saves from pre-reinstall (if you didn't delete them during uninstall)

It sometimes can take a while to load, but besides that I can't help you any more besdies what I have - if you are sure you did everything the right way.
I can ask again: are you sure you applied the vovan crack, not the original SKIDROW one and did you remove internet access before running game.
When it freezes can you change to desktop using ALT+TAB or CTRL+ALT+DELETE (+"Start taskmanager" in Win7)?

Inside vovan release is a crack folder. Inside this folder is 6 files. You take ALL 6 files and place them in the install dir for the game. Windows should asks permission to overwrite originals if you placed it right. Did you do it like this?
